Generally, there are many categories of wire rope, which can be divided into different categories according to different categories. According to the contact state between the adjacent layers of steel wires in the wire rope strand, the wire rope can be divided into three basic types: point-contact wire rope, line-contact wire rope and face-contact wire rope. Point contact wire rope refers to the form of point contact between the adjacent layers of wire in the wire rope strand.
       The diameter of each layer of wire is equal (except for the central wire), and the strand is formed by layering. Wire-contact wire rope refers to the linear contact form between the adjacent layers of wires in the wire rope strand, and the strand is made of wires with different diameters at one time.
       For the wire rope with round strand wire contact, each layer of wire in the wire rope is in linear contact. Wire contact is not only between wires in the same layer, but also between wires in adjacent layers. Each layer of wire in the strand has the same lay direction and the same lay length. Face-point contact wire rope refers to the surface contact form between adjacent layers of wires in the wire rope strand. Compared with point-contact wire rope, wire-contact wire rope has many advantages: the strand of wire-contact wire rope is in line contact shape, so the inner structure of wire rope strand is closer than that of point-contact wire rope, which can reduce the relative sliding of steel wire in the strand when in use; The lay distance of the wires in the strand of the wire-contact wire rope is equal, so the lay angle of the inner layer of the wire rope is smaller, so the overall structural elongation of the wire-contact wire rope (refers to the elongation caused by the internal displacement of the wire and the shrinkage of the fiber core when the new wire is under the load) is larger than the contact area of the point-contact wire rope. The density coefficient of wire contact wire rope is high. Under the same conditions, the strength loss of wire contact wire rope is smaller than that of point contact wire rope. Therefore, in terms of bearing capacity, generally, the life of wire contact wire rope is about 8-10% higher than that of point contact wire rope, and the life of wire contact wire rope is about 20-40% longer than that of point contact wire rope, even more. Especially, the wear resistance of wire contact wire rope with thicker outer wire of strand rope of wire rope will be better. In general, wire contact wire rope is much better than point contact wire rope, and it is more practical in use.
